Matthew and Sarah are an adventurous, driven, and madly in love couple. I met with them in a little bakeshop last December where we went over their plans for a gorgeous woodsy outdoor wedding at Mt Rainier National Park - and to say that made my photographer heart happy was an understatement. Anyone who knows me knows I love camping, hiking, forests, and mountains - which this beautiful wedding had plenty of. And it was only a short and scenic drive from Seattle, so all the better!
Sarah and Matthew and their family and friends all stayed at Wellspring Spa and Resort in Ashford, WA in these charming rustic log cabins, where they got themselves all ready for the big day. Not wanting to see each other until Sarah and her Dad walked down the aisle, I got my workout running up and down the forest paths between cabins, capturing some awesome getting ready moments. Not every couple opts for getting ready coverage, but I encourage it because it helps tell the complete story of your day, start to finish with all of the details that make your day and love story unique.
Then onto the ceremony, in an absolutely stunning forest amphitheater, it was equal parts heartfelt and lighthearted with plenty of room for blessings, jokes, and beautiful personal vows.
After a short hike in the woods, we found a bridge over a creek to take some portraits, and then it was on into the tent reception, complete with taco bar for dinner (yum), and some of the best speeches I've heard at a wedding! By the end of the night I was laughing along with the funny moments, and tearing up a little at the outpouring of love. What a great day - and a huge congrats to Matthew and Sarah on their lovely wedding!
